Young European Hand Surgeons (YEHS)
What do you need as a young hand surgeon?
This is the question at the heart of YEHS.
We know that building a career in hand surgery can be challenging. There are countless educational resources, courses and opportunities available, and it is not always easy to know where to start or which ones are right for you.
We are here to help.
We want to help you navigate the educational resources available to you and find the opportunities that best fit your needs and career goals. We want to support you in preparing for the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS) Diploma Exam, connect you with colleagues across Europe, and help you build meaningful international friendships and mentorship relationships.
Most importantly, we want to create opportunities for you to grow—not only as a hand surgeon, but also as a future leader in our specialty.
How can YEHS support you?
The YEHS Committee works on a wide range of initiatives designed to support your development and help you make the most of the opportunities available to you as a young hand surgeon.
Our key activities include:
- Educational Workshops: We organise educational events tailored to the needs of young hand surgeons, including dedicated sessions focused on exam preparation.
- Course Support: We provide subsidised access, through an application process, to high-quality educational opportunities.
- Annual FESSH Congress: We organise the YEHS Session, contribute to Free Paper Sessions as co-chairs, organise a YEHS social event, coordinate speakers, propose topics and create opportunities for you to meet and connect with colleagues from across Europe.
- Fellowship and Training Projects: We support the organisation and promotion of fellowship opportunities and structured training initiatives, helping you explore different training environments across Europe.
- Journal Contributions: We promote young hand surgeons in engaging with the Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume) and explore opportunities for collaboration and contribution.
- European Training Centres: We maintain and update the official list of European hand surgery training centres, helping you explore training opportunities across Europe.
- EBHS Diploma Exam: We actively promote the European Board of Hand Surgery (EBHS) Diploma Exam and provide information and resources to help you prepare for this important step in your career.
