MEET THE COMMITTEE CHAIR

Massimo Corain is Chief of the Hand Surgery and Microsurgery Unit at the University Hospital of Verona, Italy. The Unit is certified as a FESSH Hand Trauma and Replantation Centre. His clinical and academic interests include hand, wrist and elbow surgery, congenital hand conditions, and the correction of post-traumatic sequelae. He holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification for the position of Associate Professor in Plastic Surgery and in Orthopaedics and Traumatology. He is also Past President of the Pediatric Hand International Society of Surgeons (PHISOS).

Within the Italian Society for Surgery of the Hand (SICM), he served as a Council member for six years before becoming the Society’s FESSH Delegate. Since 2023, he has also chaired the Committee for the Preparatory Course for the European Diploma in Hand Surgery.

Within FESSH, he has served as examiner for the European Diploma in Hand Surgery since 2016. From 2023 to 2026, he was Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee, including the Hand Trauma Committee and the Green Group, and a member of the FESSH Council. He has been re-elected as Chair of the Clinical Practice Committee, now encompassing all Special Interest Groups (SIGs), and serves as a member of both the FESSH Council and the Executive Committee for the 2026–2029 term. As Chair of the FESSH Clinical Practice Committee, his objective is to coordinate the Special Interest Groups (SIGs) by fostering collaboration within and between the groups and promoting international cooperation, with the aim of streamlining the efforts of each SIG under the aegis of FESSH.
