Leila Harhaus-Wähner chair of the FESSH Research Committee. Prof. Dr. Leila Harhaus-Wähner is Director of the Department of Hand-, Plastic and Microsurgery and Burn Center at BG Klinikum Unfallkrankenhaus Berlin and serves as Vice Medical Director of the hospital. In addition, she is Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin. Her clinical and academic work focuses on hand surgery, reconstructive microsurgery, and burn care.

She was awarded the European Board Diploma in Hand Surgery (EBHS) in 2019 as best candidate. Within FESSH, she is currently serving her second term as Head of the Research Committee, where she has initiated and developed several programs to support young researchers, particularly in countries with limited scientific infrastructure, and has advanced the implementation of FESSH-guided multicentre studies.

At the national level, she is a member of the Executive Committee of the German Society for Hand Surgery (DGH), contributing to the strategic development of the society.
