The Journal Committee was appointed to improve the collaboration with the journal. The chairman of the Journal Committee is also a member of the Management Committee of the Journal, which meets twice yearly.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh and did my basic surgical training in Leeds. Thereafter I completed my Plastic Surgery training in Manchester, followed by a microsurgery fellowship at Chang Gong Memorial hospital, Taiwan, a hand fellowship in Sheffield, UK and a congenital hand fellowship at Great Ormond Street, London. I was a Consultant Plastic and Hand Surgeon at the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People, Edinburgh and St John’s Hospital, Livingston until 2023 when i returned to Singapore for a post as Senior Consultant at Singapore General Hospital. My interest is in both adult and paediatric hand surgery, particularly nerve-related injuries including the management of stroke and spasticity disorders. I have a keen interest in research and am currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Hand Surgery (European volume).
Egemen Ayhan, MD, FEBHS, Assoc. Prof.
Egemen Ayhan is a hand surgeon and currently serves as the Director of the Hand Surgery Clinic at Basaksehir Cam and Sakura City Hospital in Istanbul, the largest hand surgery clinic in Turkey. Dr. Ayhan has been recognized with numerous awards, such as the PRS Global Open Best Paper Award and multiple best presentation prizes. He was one of the three best examination candidates from Eastern Europe in the European Board of Hand Surgery Examination in 2018, Copenhagen and was also a visiting fellow and 2016 awardee of the FESSH travel award. He is a prolific author, contributing to numerous peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and actively participates in several professional societies. Dr. Ayhan served as a FESSH Communication Committee Member from 2017 to 2024. He has presented extensively at international conferences and serves as a peer reviewer for esteemed medical journals. Dr. Ayhan’s advanced training includes being an ASSH International Traveling Fellow (25 September – 13 October 2023), a Visiting Fellow at Institut de la Main, Clinique Jouvenet, Paris, France (March 2016), and completing a Fellowship in Orthopedics and Traumatology, Hand, Upper Extremity, and Microsurgery at Mersin University (Feb 2014 – May 2016). He completed his residency in Orthopedics and Traumatology at Istanbul University, Cerrahpasa School of Medicine (2004 – 2009), where he also earned his medical degree (English Program) (1998 – 2004).: Observer from the Communication Committee          Email: socialmedia@fessh.com

The Journal of Hand Surgery (European Volume) is the official journal of FESSH. The JHSE is essential reading for everyone involved in restoring the function to the hand and upper limb.
