CHARITY FOR UKRAINE

FESSH has initiated a charity campaign in cooperation with its industry partners helping the Ukrainian people wounded in the war. We are collecting medical equipment and material that can be used in war time conditions.

Many thanks for the generosity of ORFIT and KLS Martin.

FESSH STATEMENT ON UKRAINE

We condemn to our innermost the actions underway in Ukraine.

The FESSH Executive Committee has been, for the last few days, in intensive discussions, as to how we can help our colleagues.

As an apolitical organisation we seek to support all victims in this unfolding tragedy. We extend our hand to all those who need us, including patients and medical personnel.

We have based our help around the three S’s: SolidaritySupport and Supply

FESSH’s main mission is education in hand surgery and we think as organisation we should primarily show our solidarity with colleagues being involved in this terrible conflict.

Support could be given via educational activities during the time of the war but also after this phase when there maybe a great need for surgical  reconstructive assistance. For this we are in touch with other medical organisations such as Médicine Sans Frontiers (MSF), who have significant expertise and the appropriate infrastructure. One example is telemédical courses and we think we may contribute in such activities. Safe hands are a prerequisite to build up new structures. As an immediate measure we have agreed to donate 10,000 Euros to MSF border refugee medical camps.

Supply could be delivered with our industrial partners. Initial discussions suggest a keenness to be involved.

The challenge will be, to coordinate all our well-intentioned activities, so that as much success as possible can be realised. The help of our various professional organisations is urgently needed and FESSH will be diligent to avail all possibilities.

As individuals we can also show solidarity and each of us can try and find his or her role and do their bit.

Please do not hesitate to contact the FESSH Office (office@fessh.com ) if you have suggestions or would like to pledge assistance in some way.
