Member Societies

FESSH Bylaws 5.1: The members of the Federation shall be the national societies for surgery of the hand belonging to the countries defined as being European by the WHO Europe definition. The national society should be a member of the European Forum of Medical Associations (EFMA).

FESSH Bylaws 5.3: Full Members are subject to the rules of the Federation. The Society must be the recognised society for surgery for the hand and be the representative society of hand surgery in their country.Full members pay membership fees, participate in the Delegates Assembly and have voting rights in the Delegates Assembly.

FESSH Bylaws 5.3: Associate membership is available to societies whose nations do not belong to the WHO definition of a European country and the EFMA. It is also available to European societies who do not wish to become full members.
This form of membership offers access to information concerning FESSH activities that may be disseminated among their members. Associate members do not pay membership fees and do not have voting rights in the Delegate Assembly.

Associate Membership requirements

• the applying country is not a member of the Council of Europe
• the applying National Society represents Hand Surgery in her country
• no membership fee is requested
• the application is submitted 8 months prior to the forthcoming Delegates Assembly (it usually means a deadline of midst October)

Associate Membership rights

• Participation at the annual Delegates Assembly by one delegate
• No right to vote at the Delegates Assembly
• Access to on-line contents
• Patronage for meetings that meet the criteria

We kindly ask the applicant to send the following information to FESSH Office to start the preparation process:
1. official application letter signed by the President of the National Hand Society representing Hand Surgery in her country.
2. name, address and e-mail contact to the President, Secretary and Treasurer of the National Hand Society
3. address of the website of the National Hand Society (if any)
4. logo of the National Hand Society (if any)
