Inga Besmens is a partner at the Hand Institute Zurich, Switzerland, and Associate Professor at the University of Zurich. She is a board-certified hand and plastic surgeon with clinical and academic interests in hand and peripheral nerve surgery. Within the Swiss Society for Surgery of the Hand, she is a former President of the Association of Hand Surgeons in Training in Switzerland.

She has been actively involved in FESSH since receiving a FESSH Travel Award in 2016. She co-founded and served as the first President of the Young European Hand Surgeons (YEHS), is an examiner for the European Board of Hand Surgery, and has served as faculty for the FESSH Academy Foundation and Advanced Courses. Since 2026, she serves as Chair of the Relationship Committee and as a member of the FESSH Council.

Her current focus within FESSH is strengthening international collaboration, educational exchange, and professional networks across Europe.
