Maria Larrea is a hand surgeon from the Basque Country, Spain. She has performed training periods in various reference centres in the UK and India, as well as a 6-month fellowship across some of the most renowned Hand Surgery Units in Spain.

She is currently based in Barcelona, working at Kaplan Hand Institute and in the hand surgery department of Clinic University Hospital, where she is involved in resident training and with visiting fellows from around the world. Both centres maintain a strong commitment to research and academic development.

Maria joined the Communication Committee in 2023 and is looking forward to developing her period as chair of the YEHS Committee. Her main goals as chair are fostering an international network for fellows, creating a mentorship platform and continuing YEHS’s work in supporting EBHS candidates in their exam preparation.
